Long-distance move from Golden, CO to Tucson, AZ

Steer Clear of this Company

This company is a classic "bait and switch" brokerage that operates with zero integrity. Our experience with AmeriSafe and their subcontractors, All Seasons Logistics and Loyal Moving, was a nightmare of broken promises, broken possessions and financial pressure.

The Bait:

It started with a "Binding-Not-To-Exceed" estimate. They promised a 4–5-person professional crew and a single truck that would be loaded in Denver and driven straight to Tucson—guaranteeing my items would only be "touched twice."

The Switch:

Days before the move, "Quality Control" tried to double the estimate. We insisted on the original price which they agreed to for a single moving truck. The reality on moving day was a disaster. Instead of a professional fleet, a Budget rental truck showed up with only two packers and a driver. They couldn't fit the inventory they had previously agreed to and quoted, forcing us to pay for a second truck (which they only filled halfway but charged for in full).

The Nightmare:

The "only touched twice" promise was a total lie. They offloaded our life into a storage facility in Parker, CO, only to cram it later into a Loyal Moving truck. When it arrived in Arizona, it was a scene of pure negligence: an $8000 mattress was tied to the outside of the truck, and the interior was packed floor-to-ceiling with crushed boxes and items turned sideways and upside down with zero care. Even the driver and delivery individuals were surprised with the condition of the items stored in his truck. We continue to work through the boxes and continue to find broken belongings.

The Financial Force:

Beyond filling the initial truck then holding it hostage until we paid for a second at the packing site, then delivery crew held our belongings hostage again at the drop-off. They refused to even start unloading until they were paid, demanding cash or wire transfers to a private individual. We wasted hours in a standoff before they finally accepted Venmo to a corporate account. Additionally we were informed per the invoice by Amerisafe/All Seasons Logistics that our shipment was 3125 cubic feet and when the truck delivered belongings in Tucson the driver from Loyal Shipping stated the truck only had capacity for 2000 cubic feet, thus an overbilling for 1125 cubic feet for the move.

Verdict:

AmeriSafe is not a moving company; they are a broker for amateurs. They will give you a "binding" quote to get your deposit, then hit you with sub-par vendors, rental trucks, and hidden fees. Avoid them at all costs unless you want your furniture crushed and your wallet emptied. On an additional note, a couple of jewelry pieces stored in a bed side table drawer were stolen by someone on the crew during the unloading work. Not only are we disappointed in the company for lack of professionalism and questionable business practices, but for the type of individuals which they have working for them. We would strongly recommend looking elsewhere for moving services.

The worst experience

In hind sight, there were red flags. This company provided the worst service we have ever experienced. They attempt to estimate your move volume by speaking to you on the phone. Despite going over every room, they grossly underestimated the volume resulting in us having to rent two U-hauls to make up the difference. They told us our items would be on a truck dedicated to us only. This was a lie considering that as a broker, they had no idea which company would be available for our move and what equipment they may have. Note....Amerisafe is a broker. They will sell your move to the lowest bidder. In our case, it was an unreputable company. Despite what they tell you during the estimate process, please beware of this scam.

AmeriSafe Van Lines

I spoke with Leo of AmeriSafe Van Lines in October for moving furniture and household goods from Colorado, to Indiana.

Leo informed me that he could see the furniture and the washer and dryer in the house. He saw online the items that were to be shipped. I told him I have boxes in the garage, and he said he based the cost on 30 boxes. Though I had not filled all the boxes to be shipped, I informed him that there were not 30 boxes and that there would not be that many. When packing was completed, I had 19 boxes.

His estimate was $5587.93, which he claimed at least three times during the conversation, was “binding.” He said “binding” means that it "cannot be broken.” I permitted that day a charge of $2790.00 to my credit card.

I was prepared to pay, on the day of pick-up, the amount of $1395.01. Imagine my surprise when Miguel, the driver, arrived at the house on 2025.10.16 and told me he couldn’t agree that $5587.93 would be the total cost for the move until he loaded my items on the truck. He looked at the items in the house and immediately stated it would be over $7650. I made no changes to the number or size of items listed with Leo. Suddenly the cost was going to be almost 37% higher than Leo's “binding” estimate. I said that I needed to know the cost before he loaded my items, and that I was given the “binding” sum of $5587.93. Miguel said he couldn't tell me how much the cost would be until AFTER loading my items into the moving van. He made phone calls to AmeriSafe.

I received a phone call from a manager at AmeriSafe. He said changing the fee was common in the moving industry. I received a call from Leo who stated the same: changing the fee is common. He stated that the company I did hire would also change the fee provided by its representative. I have news for Leo: that company gave me a price and charged not one cent more.

AmeriSafe Van Lines’ tactic seems to be one of “bait and switch.” I was offered a refund of $1000 instead of the entire $2790.00. Leo claimed the amount of $5587.93 was “binding,” meaning, in his own words, it “cannot be broken.” Leo lied. I told Miguel he was not going to load my items until I had an accurate fee. Miguel left. Unfortunately, I cannot rate AmeriSafe with zero stars and must give it one star.
